Genetics Resource Centre (GRC) was established in September 2012 by Maj Gen (R) Suhaib Ahmed, HI (M) to fight against common genetic disorders in Pakistan. Thalassaemia, being the commonest single gene disorder, is our main area of interest. We are the largest centre in Pakistan that provides comprehensive facility of carrier testing, fetal sampling, and prenatal diagnosis of thalassaemia and other genetic disorders. Each year we do over 800 prenatal diagnoses. The GRC Lab is now offering high quality prenatal diagnostic testing of uncommon and rare genetic disorders at an affordable price. Our dedicated team of workers, state of the art equipment and high quality reagent kits ensure the quality of work.
GRC also offers high quality diagnostic service for PCR of many infectious disorders like HCV, HBV, CMV etc. and PCR in several haematological malignancies. Our range of services also include quantitative estimation of donor chimerism after haematopoietic stem cell transplant.
Genetic Technology Instrumentation (GTI) is an exclusive division of GRC that focuses on development of low cost lab equipment for genetic analysis. We have developed several high-tech instruments that may be used to set-up a complete DNA Lab. These instruments can be useful for the diagnostic labs as well as R & D institutions like universities and colleges across Pakistan and many developing countries.
GRC also provides an open forum for learning and exchange of information on genetic disorders and related problems. We are focused on development of low-cost solutions for the common genetic disorders in Pakistan. Our R & D team is constantly working on novel ideas and we would warmly welcome anyone willing to work on such ideas.
GRC aims at:
Your resources will never be enough if you don’t know how to use them!
